Abdurakhmon Tashanov, chairman of the “Ezgulik” human rights society, also announced the release of Kadirov.
It should be recalled that on June 26, 2019, the Tashkent city criminal court delivered a guilty verdict to the former Prosecutor General Rashid Kadirov and other participants in the criminal case.
According to the court verdict, Rashid Kadirov was found guilty of committing grave crimes under a number of articles of the Criminal Code.
He was sentenced to 10 years in prison and imposed a fine of 500 BCAs.
In May 2018, during a meeting with activists in the Andijan region, the President of Uzbekistan criticized the former Prosecutor General.
“Now, the former Prosecutor General (Rashid Kadirov) is in prison with his team. He is paying back millions of dollars. In 2-3 months, he himself will tell you everything on TV how he corrupted everything. He took 30-40 thousand US dollars from each district prosecutor. He is returning everything now. One of his sons is a billionaire! And the leaders of other organizations, five former deputies of the National Security Service are also in prison. They are all thieves. Whatever happens, I’ll put everything in its place.
All of them built houses in the Baltics. Even Amir Temur did not live in such houses. This is the people’s money. Therefore, 70% of the employees in the prosecutor’s office have been changed. I will forgive everyone, but I will not forgive thieves and traitors. This is what my people should know,” the President said then.
On January 5, Abdurakhmon Tashanov, chairman of the “Ezgulik” human rights society, hinted at the fact that the “film” about Rashid Kadirov has never been made.
