AKIPRESS.COM – Computer science will appear in the curriculum of the first grades of schools in Uzbekistan starting from the new academic year, the presidential press service reported following the presentation to the head of state on May 22 of proposals for the development of preschool and school education.
“70% of topics in the curriculum have no connection with daily life. The share of practical training will be increased from 40% to 60%. Topics will be taught on solving a specific problem, as well as practical lessons in the form of project implementation,” the press service noted.
Advanced training and incentives for teachers will be introduced as part of the changes to the education system.
District and city education departments will be deprived of the authority to check the activities of schools and assess the quality of education.
The requirements for the organization of private schools will be easened, the local boards of directors will be created, and a certification system for teachers will be established. A novice teacher will have to work as a trainee teacher for one year and receive a certificate during this period.
Tests for assigning a qualification to teachers will be carried out in two stages.
The wage rates for qualified kindergarten teachers will be equated to the rates applicable to school teachers from June 1, 2024.
Kindergartens and specialized schools will be given the right to freely dispose of extrabudgetary funds.
