Tashkent ranked 157th out of 173 in the Global Liveability Index 2023 according to the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU). On 53.9 points the capital of Uzbekistan slipped 13 places compared to last year’s ranking, becoming one of ten worse performers.
EIU’s index ranked 173 cities across 30 indicators in five categories: stability, healthcare, education, culture and the environment, and infrastructure.
Vienna kept the top spot of the most livable city in the world, followed by Copenhagen and Melbourne. The top ten, in descending order, also includes Sydney, Vancouver, Zurich, Calgary, Geneva, Toronto, Osaka and Auckland.
Syrian Damascus as at the bottom of the ranking, joined by Douala, Kyiv, Harare, Dhaka, Port Moresby, Karachi, Lagos, Algiers and Tripoli.
