Due to the temporary restriction of the two-way movement of trucks on the Belarusian-Polish border, the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan is negotiating to ensure the passage of trucks of Uzbek national carriers through Lithuanian border checkpoints, EastFruit experts report.
By the relevant decree of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Poland dated February 21, 2023, entry and exit of all freight vehicles on the Belarusian-Polish border at the last open crossing point “Kukuryki-Kozlovichi” is temporarily restricted. Exceptions are goods vehicles registered in EU and European Free Trade Association member states. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan.
As a result, there is now a congestion of trucks at this border checkpoint. In this regard, the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan asks national carriers to take into account the current situation when transporting goods to European countries.
To resolve the issue, negotiations are underway to ensure the unimpeded passage of trucks of Uzbek national carriers through the border checkpoints of Lithuania.
We remind you that on December 5, 2022, Uztemiryulconteiner launched regular freight trains from Uzbekistan to Lithuania. The total length of the route, which runs through Kazakhstan, Russia, and Belarus, is over 4600 km. It was noted that the new transport corridor will be in demand by Uzbek exporters for the delivery of goods to European countries.
JSC “Uztemiryulcontainer” is the official freight forwarder on the railways of Uzbekistan and provides transport and forwarding services for export-import, transit, and domestic transportation of goods in containers through the territory of Uzbekistan, the CIS countries, Europe and Asia.
