Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Aleinik met with Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov of Uzbekistan on the sidelines of a meeting of the CIS Foreign Ministers Council in Bishkek, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The foreign ministers discussed key aspects of Belarus-Uzbekistan political, economic and humanitarian cooperation, the cooperation in the integration associations and the schedule of upcoming joint events.

“The parties touched upon the organization and conduct of the 10th meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission on bilateral cooperation between Belarus and Uzbekistan, which will be held in Tashkent. The parties noted with satisfaction the positive dynamics of trade and economic cooperation between Belarus and Uzbekistan,” the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

Sergei Aleinik and Bakhtiyor Saidov discussed cooperation in light industry, agriculture, manufacturing sector, and pharmaceuticals. The diplomats stressed the importance of further expanding the formats of interregional cooperation.

“The ministers exchanged views on the interaction and mutual support in international organizations. The parties confirmed the high level of the Belarus-Uzbekistan dialogue, the similarity of positions on topical issues of the international agenda and compared notes on the joint projects,” the ministry added.
